OUR ALM

The Winklerhof also owns an alpine pasture in Rein in Taufers and a mountain meadow at 2,300m above sea level.

The mountain meadow can be reached in an hour's walk from the alpine village of Knutten (1,900m). Due to this remoteness, haymaking is possible exclusively by hand. The mountain mowing has been done for generations.

A group of nature-conscious friends of our family helps us to keep the tradition alive. Without the annual mowing, herbs and flowers would otherwise become overgrown and biodiversity would be lost.

Many protected alpine flowers and herbs grow in the extremely species-rich rough pasture and give a unique hay. This we sell to the sauna in the swimming pool Cron4 and to various hotels in the area for hay baths.
